Water
Arm Your Skin Against Winter Woes
Phytobidermie targets signs of winter-worn skin according to Traditional
Chinese Medicine Principles.
’Tis the season for hot cups of cocoa, roaring fireplaces and
frosty windows … ’tis also the season for red cheeks, dry
and dehydrated skin, and those annoying little flakes on the tip of your
nose.
Unfortunately, despite popular belief, slathering on heavy, oily moisturizers
every morning and night is rarely the solution for winter-challenged
skin. Why? According to centuries-old principles of Traditional Chinese
Medicine, each season creates its own energy, influencing all forms of
life, both on the inside and on the outside. Signs of ‘winterized’ skin
are actually indicators that not only your skin, but your entire body
is feeling the effect of the winter energy. The Chinese Winter season
lasts from November 8th to January 16th, and is a time when Yin energy
peaks and Yang energy is at its lowest, which relates to the season’s
shorter days and colder climate. The Chinese also aligned the winter
energy to the Water Element.
PHYTOBIODERMIE, a complete program of Swiss-formulated skincare products
founded on traditional Chinese medicine and the Five Elements Theory,
has created a line for each season. The WATER ELEMENT line offers a holistic
approach to weathering winter skin woes.
By using penetrating, pure and natural essential oils with other natural
ingredients, Water Element products work on the energetic “root” cause
of winter skin problems.
Phytobiodermie Water Element products help to energetically address
specific Water skin conditions most often incurred during the winter:
• dehydration, leading to loss of skin elasticity and tone
• fine age lines and wrinkles
• mature skin types
• puffiness and/or dark circles under the eyes
• overall dryness
Water Element products can also be used at any other time, by anyone
with the Water-related skin conditions listed above.
The Phytobiodermie Water Element skincare line, to be used after cleansing,
includes:
Water Toner – a mild, non-alcoholic skin tonic that helps re-mineralize
and tone skin, resulting in increased elasticity. Primary ingredients:
algae, lemon, juniper, peppermint, rosemary, sage and thyme. Use after
cleansing.
Water (Violet) Phyt’Ether – energetic blend of colored essential
oils in a grapeseed oil base. This concentrated elixir can be applied
directly to skin as an intensive treatment or under the Black Clay Mask.
Primary ingredients: eucalyptus, juniper and horsetail essential oils.
Black Clay Mask – a powerful blend of essential
oils and nourishing, natural clay from marine sediments. This rich and
smooth mixture, formulated for the face, works to hydrate and tone dry,
dehydrated, skin with a burst of energetic moisture.
Ceresal Buckwheat (Day Cream) – a protective, nutrient-rich moisturizer
for daytime wear. This non-greasy formula helps shield the skin from
climactic aggressions, such as cold and wind. Primary ingredients: avocado
oil, gingko extract, buckwheat, wheat protein.
Water Element Night Element Cream – a repairing night cream that
works in synergy with the Water Day Cream. A rich, hydrating and toning
emulsion, it is also effective against the formation of fine lines. Primary
ingredients: avocado oil, gingko extract, buckwheat extract, vitamin
E and copper.
Oligo 5 – restores mineral content to the skin, which thereby
increases hydration, oxygenation and skin metabolism, and promotes a
healthy looking appearance. This mineralizing lotion should be applied
daily to the face and neck areas after cleansing and toning, before the
application of treatment cream. Primary ingredients: algae, manganese,
cobalt, copper, zinc and magnesium
Body Firming Gel – A moisturizing energetic treatment gel based
on the Chinese Five Element theory. It is especially beneficial for toning
tissue, especially around the breast area. Primary ingredients: peppermint,
juniperberry, rosemary, sage, thyme, lemon, rose hips and sweet orange.

to be used as often as needed. Ideal for use during a slimming program
